The Caribbean is a group of islands situated between North America and South America next to Central America.

Over thirty countries and thousands of islands make up the region, as well as two often-recognised mainland territories.

The three main island arcs are the Lesser Antilles, the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas. The first two groups border the Caribbean Sea, the region's main body of water, from the Atlantic Ocean.
